NEW YORK, Aug. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- KIWI magazine announces the winners of its first-ever KIWI Natural Beauty Awards, which honor beauty products that meet KIWI's high standards for both safety and performance.
Hundreds of products were evaluated before choosing the winners in 25 categories, including Best Facial Cleanser, Best Body Lotion, Best Shampoo, and Best Lipstick. Two runners-up were also selected in each category. Every product that was nominated for the awards passed a strict toxicity test, scoring 3 or lower (on a 10-point scale) in the Environmental Working Group's Skin Deep Cosmetics Database. To select the winners, KIWI worked with a panel of natural-beauty experts—Kristen Arnett, founder of greenbeautyteam.com; Sarita Coren, blogger at ediblefacial.com; and Sophie Uliano, author of Gorgeously Green. The nominated products were also tested by mothers across the country and KIWI editors, all of whom scored the products on quality and performance. The result of months of research: 75 products that are both safe and effective.
KIWI launched the awards at a time when the demand for natural beauty products—which don't contain the chemicals found in many conventional products—is on the rise. "Women are looking for beauty products that are made without toxic ingredients but also want to know, given the huge number of natural products now available, which ones are truly effective," says Andrea Barbalich, KIWI's editorial director. "We created the KIWI Natural Beauty Awards to celebrate the amazing products that deliver on both goals: They are safe to use and will also help women look and feel their very best."
