Kodaro's Niagara Port Now Available for the Dell Edge Gateway through Building Automation Industry Leaders
PLEASANT HILL, Calif., June 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Kodaro, the Bay Area building automation software company, today announces the release of its Niagara port which makes it possible to run Tridium's Niagara 4 software on the Dell Edge Gateway 5000 Series. This first-ever port creates the secure connection needed for the industry's most widely used controls framework to operate on Dell's IoT-enabling hardware.
"We knew the release of the Dell Edge Gateway would open up new possibilities for building automation," said Kodaro President Larry Andriunas. "But we also knew that even the most rugged hardware would need to operate with the standard industry frameworks. Our Niagara port accomplishes this with an unprecedented level of security unique to the needs of our industry."
"Dell is empowering analytics at the edge of the IoT network for richer business insights," said Jeff Brown, vice president of IoT and embedded computing sales, Dell EMC. "The release of this Niagara port for our Edge Gateway is exciting, because it allows existing Tridium users to explore the power of our hardware with advanced security and without disruption to existing business processes."
Now available industry-wide, the Niagara software port operates on the IoTium Operating System, a secure framework for the industrial Internet of Things (IIOT). The Edge Gateway hardware itself includes an Intel® Atom™ processor and comes standard with Intel's TPM chip for added end-point security.
"Industrial IoT adoption has lagged due to issues with scalability, remote management and secure cloud connectivity," said Ron Victor, founder and CEO of IoTium. "This joint solution overcomes these barriers by providing our secure transport capabilities with the Dell Gateway, enabling IIoT deployment at scale without changing enterprise IT security policies/firewalls and eliminating the need for on-field technicians or truck rolls."
"As the IoT's rapid growth continues, the Niagara Framework and members of the Niagara Community will empower innovation and the development of groundbreaking products," said Jim Bland, president and general manager of Tridium. "We appreciate the on-going commitment to expand Niagara's footprint from valued Community members like Kodaro."
