Supported by Google.org, SVAIP enters Year 2 to expand AI professional development across California TK-12 school districts.
LOS ALTOS HILLS, Calif., Nov. 5, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The Krause Center for Innovation (KCI) today announced the completion of Year 1 of the Silicon Valley Artificial Intelligence Project (SVAIP), marked by the release of a comprehensive evaluation report conducted by independent research agency WestEd. Made possible through generous support from Google.org, the initiative equips TK-12 educators with the critical skills, ethical guidance, and practical frameworks needed to integrate artificial intelligence responsibly into California classrooms.
Following a foundational year of listening sessions, policy roundtables, and professional development cohorts across Silicon Valley, the WestEd Impact Report highlights key successes in empowering educators and building AI-ready school infrastructure. As SVAIP enters Year 2, KCI is expanding its reach beyond Silicon Valley to TK-12 school districts statewide across California. Year 2 will deepen its core offerings, including the AI Capstone program, the asynchronous AI Empowered Educator program, and customizable professional learning focused on adaptive tools, ethical innovation, and strategic leadership.
"Our goal with SVAIP from day one has been to ensure educators lead the AI transformation rather than being left behind by it," said Gay Krause, Executive Director and Founder of the Krause Center for Innovation. "With the visionary support of Google.org and our partnership with WestEd, Year 1 proved that when teachers are empowered with thoughtful, human-centered AI literacy, they reclaim valuable time to focus on what matters most: connecting with and inspiring their students. As we scale across California in Year 2, we remain committed to ensuring every child benefits from safe, equitable, and ethically guided AI instruction."
To maintain momentum and address state legislation and AI implementation strategies, KCI is inviting educators, school leaders, and policymakers to upcoming flagship events hosted at Foothill College:
- SVAIP Strategic Working Sessions: Interactive sessions designed to help district leaders proactively navigate emerging California legislation, policy, and AI integration strategies. Details and registration are available on the KCI Working Session Page.
- un[AI]pologetic Education Conference: A free, educator-centered conference hosted at Foothill College that balances practical AI tools with a firm commitment to human-centered pedagogy, data privacy, and ethics. Learn more and register on the un[AI]pologetic Event Page.
