SAN ANTONIO, May 17, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- KVDA Telemundo San Antonio, a ZGS Communications operated station, announced today that it is launching a revamped local newscast beginning Monday, May 21st at 5 p.m. from its new, state-of-the-art studio in the heart of San Antonio.  Telenoticias San Antonio will be more connected to the community, present the local stories that are most relevant to Hispanic viewers and deliver the day's news in an innovative and interactive format. 

Telenoticias San Antonio's slogan Mas Cerca de Usted or Closer to You promises reporting that goes beyond the headlines and brings the audience closer to the stories that affect them most with special segments that are designed to inform and empower the community.  Both newscasts will be anchored by Esmeralda Medellin whose media career has spanned over 20 years and began in San Antonio.  She has held reporter and anchor positions in Dallas and Chicago for both Univision and Telemundo.  The experienced news team includes Jaime Becerril with Sports, Lilian Perez with Weather and Entertainment, and reporters:  Ciro Villarreal, Mayde Gomez, Gerardo Moreno, and Geraldine Ortega. The evening news is produced by Maria Elena Cruz who started her career at Telemundo San Antonio and has worked as the promotions  producer at WOAI, the NBC affiliate in San Antonio, and the  Editor-in-Chief of  the local Spanish-language newspaper  La Prensa de San Antonio.
