Kym Rapier Foundation Partners with Mo Dewji Foundation to Bring Life-Changing Eye Care Initiative in Tanzania
Strategic partnership between foundations will fund free cataract surgeries and comprehensive eye care services for underserved communities
SINGIDA, Tanzania and SAN ANTONIO, Aug. 28, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The Kym Rapier Foundation today announced a significant partnership with the Mo Dewji Foundation to support transformative eye care initiatives across Tanzania. This first of its kind collaboration between the two foundations will fund community-based eye camps providing free cataract surgeries and essential eye care services to Tanzanians with limited access to medical treatment.
The Kym Rapier Foundation has committed funding to one of the upcoming eye-care camps that can attend to over 5000 people across 3 days, enabling thousands of patients to receive sight-restoring care that dramatically improves their quality of life.
"This partnership reflects our commitment to practical, community-focused healthcare support," said Kym Rapier, founder of the Kym Rapier Foundation. "The Mo Dewji Foundation has organized multiple eye camps across Tanzania, working with experienced ophthalmologists to reach underserved areas. We're proud to contribute to this initiative that delivers direct and meaningful impact."
Additionally, the Kym Rapier Foundation will work alongside an experienced media team on the ground to offer media skills training to the community in order to tell their own stories by creating authentic connections, expanding the reach and building greater awareness to vital causes.
"We are humbled and grateful that the Kym Rapier Foundation chose to partner with us in this work," said Mohammed Dewji, founder of the Mo Dewji Foundation. "Our eye camps are about more than restoring sight - they are about restoring dignity, opportunity, and hope. The generous support of partners like the Kym Rapier Foundation allows us to reach more patients and take another step toward scaling this into a nationwide initiative. We approach this work with humility, knowing that what we do together transforms lives – for we believe – the life of every person matters."
The Mo Dewji Foundation has pioneered large-scale, high-throughput health camps across Tanzania. These initiatives go beyond eye care - offering gynecological services for women and screening for neural tube defects in pregnant mothers - ensuring that thousands of underserved individuals receive holistic, life-changing medical support at no cost. By combining expert medical professionals, community mobilization, and efficient delivery models, the Foundation is building a blueprint for nationwide impact.
This shared mission exemplifies both organizations' commitment to targeted, effective philanthropy that meets communities where they are and addresses real, urgent needs with measurable outcomes.
