La Marque Sam's Club Makes Savings Simple at New Location

LA MARQUE, Texas, March 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Sam's Club will open a new club in La Marque on Thursday, March 21, providing members with several expanded features and incredible savings on quality merchandise. Sam's Club has served the Galveston County community since 1991, and opens at the intersection of I-45 and FM1764 on March 21, adjacent to the La Marque Walmart – moving from its Texas City location.

"We look forward to serving our members in a more modern, efficient building," said Club Manager Matt Resnick. "Our Associates have worked hard to prepare the Club for the grand opening week and for the opportunity to serve our current and new members."

The grand opening ceremony will take place at 8 a.m., Thursday, March 21.  Local dignitaries, including Mayor Bobby Hocking and Chamber President Jimmy Hayley will be in attendance. The celebration will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Chamber members, joined by 12 Sam's Club associates who have been with the Club for more than 20 years.

The new building is environmentally friendly. As an innovative steward of the communities they serve, Sam's Club utilizes a variety of environmentally-friendly materials and energy-efficient fixtures, including several daylight-harvesting skylights reduce the amount of energy required to light the store by up to 75 percent daily. LED lighting throughout the club, including in the cooler and freezer box doors and jewelry counter, operates 70 percent more efficiently than traditional fluorescent lighting.

Club to Employ 40 New Associates, Special Grand Opening Prices

The newly relocated La Marque Sam's Club brings new jobs with career opportunities to La Marque, Texas City, and surrounding communities, employing approximately 175 associates. The relocation adds 40 new jobs to the area.

• Fresh beef Ribeye steak for $7.99 a pound.
• Lt. Blender's Cocktails in a Bag – a locally-made product – pick and choose three bags for $19.97.

Bright Atmosphere and Hearing Center among Added Amenities

The new Sam's Club features a shopper-friendly interior layout and measures approximately 136,000 square feet. That's big enough to fit the La Marque High School football field inside, with enough products to have a celebration for the whole school.

The new club will also debut a Sam's Club Hearing Aid Center, offering premium technology in hearing aid and personal listening devices alongside the care of a certified audiologist. The club will also provide an Optical Center with numerous eye care services.

Other health and wellness benefits include the Sam's Club pharmacy, open to members and the public, featuring $4 and $10 on many generic prescriptions and extraordinary savings on branded prescriptions (see qualifying medications here). Sam's Club will offer free health screenings through Saturday, March 23 as a part of the Grand Opening, and also offers free monthly health screenings to help members take charge of their health through preventative measures.

Additionally, the La Marque Club will recognize Galveston Senior Share by awarding them a grant, Texas City/La Marque Chamber and the La Marque ROTC Program will also receive checks during the opening event on March 21.
