L.A. Visual Artists DevNgosha Creates One-of-a-Kind Mural for South Park Neighborhood in Downtown LA

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Last Friday, December 5, artists DevNgosha began work on a transformative mural on a parking structure in the South Park neighborhood of Downtown Los Angeles, located at 1111 S. Hope St. Artists Devin Liston & Gosha Levochkin formed a dynamic collaboration in 2012. Devin's past work has centered in portraiture and is categorized stylistically as realistic. Gosha's work explores the urban landscape and is lyrical in form, created largely in the medium of watercolor.

The mural will be located on two faces of a seven story parking structure, the first of its kind in Los Angeles and the second key piece in the South Park Public Art Program. Facing both Hope Street and 11^th Street, the mural will be located at a key corner of the district. In close proximity to LA LIVE, Staples Center, Los Angeles Convention Center and the Pico Metro stop, the goal of the project is to capture the fast-growing, forward thinking, creative nature of South Park, while also serving as a destination piece for tourists and visitors.  The owner of the structure, PSP Investment Group, saw the opportunity in the uncommon site, and worked with the South Park BID and Do Art Foundation to commission the piece.

DevNgosha's visionary approach to the site involved using the structure to inform, rather than impede, their creativity. Inspired by historic photographer Eadweard Muybridge, who is famous for early work in motion-picture projection, the artists are approaching the artwork as a stop motion sequence to be translated on the exterior walls on each floor. Through a series of recent large-scale mural commissions, DevNgosha's emergent, more restrained line-imagery & disjointed scenery will be a welcome addition to the South Park Public Art Program.

This mural is the second official mural in the South Park Public Art Program since August 2014.  It follows Faith47's Preciousness of the Hunt, which is on the Flower Street Lofts south facing wall in South Park. The BID and Do Art expect several more pieces to go up in early 2015.
