'The Usual Suspects' is a showcase of 17 Street Artists @ LAB ART, marking its successful 1 year anniversary.
LOS ANGELES, May 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- On May 19 2012, LAB ART, the Nation's largest art gallery dedicated to Street Art, presents 'The Usual Suspects' art exhibit featuring the works of 17 street artists - CYRCLE, Desire Obtain Cherish, Alec Monopoly, Mar. 'The Usual Suspects' art exhibit celebrates the successful 1 year anniversary of LAB ART, which has helped to establish street art as a serious movement, and manifest itself as a cultural cache in the Los Angeles Art Scene.
"What we have done here is to give Street Art the place it deserves in Art History. By showcasing Street Art in a gallery it gains the attention it deserves and gives it a place in contemporary art," says LAB ART Owner and curator, Iskander Lemseffer.
Curated under the keen and watchful eyes of the brother and sister team, fashion designer Iskander Lemseffer and art collector Rachel Joelson, LAB ART is dedicated to showcasing the very best of a movement that is boldly making its mark in popular culture. Highlights marking LAB ART's flourishing 1st year are Nylon Japan naming it the '#1 most fashionable place in Los Angeles,' to being featured in an hour long episode of Selling LA, and KTLA, FOX 11 LA, and CNN.com featuring its exhibits as major news.
LAB ART proudly invites members of the art world, media and cultural enthusiasts the world over to attend 'The Usual Suspects,' for the celebration of the 1 year anniversary at LAB ART, a 6,500 square foot gallery on La Brea in LA. The exhibition includes works by 17 street artists, all with LAB ART since the beginning. LAB ART's front room will display the works of 17 Street Artists who been with the Gallery since the opening in May 2011. On display are Celebrity favorites Destroy All Design, CYRCLE, and Thank You X.
The exhibit displays art including paintings, mixed media, and installations, that range from tongue-in-cheek to satirical in tone. Iconic images from pop culture and American history - from Andy Warhol to founding father George Washington - become subject matter in 'The Usual Suspects'. Nothing is safe from commentary, as the art works poke fun at everything from symbols of materialism like Louis Vuitton and Starbucks to, well, the infamous LA Hipsters.
All the artists' works are currently available for sale. LAB ART will be launching their fantastic 1 year anniversary party on May 19 2012. LAB ART is open to the public weekly from Wednesday to Sunday (11am to 6pm) in the heart of the La Brea Art District, located at 217 South La Brea Avenue.
