Labsphere Acquires Photon Gear, Adding Ultra-High-Precision Optical Design and Assembly

Combination pairs Labsphere's light generation, control, and measurement platform with Photon Gear's custom lens design, assembly, and interferometric test.

NORTH SUTTON, N.H. and ONTARIO, N.Y., Oct. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Labsphere, a global leader in photonics, today announced it has acquired Photon Gear, Inc., an Ontario, New York designer and builder of ultra-high-precision custom optical systems and lens assemblies. The acquisition strengthens Labsphere's ability to deliver integrated optical solutions to customers in medical devices, analytical instrumentation, semiconductor, aerospace and defense, and OEM applications.

By incorporating Photon Gear's engineering expertise, Labsphere broadens its capabilities in complex, application-specific optical systems. Customers can now source a designed-to-specification lens assembly, together with the light sources, integrating spheres, and calibration used to qualify it, from a single supplier, shortening design cycles and reducing the number of vendors on a program.
