ST. LOUIS, April 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Due to the bitterly cold winter, Laclede Gas has made a decision to voluntarily extend the terms of the Missouri Cold Weather Rule to customers through the end of April, providing the most lenient payment plan for customers who have fallen behind on their accounts. The Cold Weather Rule is always available from November through March. It enables eligible customers to continue gas service or restore gas service by making an initial payment and then beginning a 12-month payment plan.
"We know that some customers are struggling this year after the unusually harsh winter. And we are always looking for ways to help our customers. By choosing to extend Missouri's Cold Weather Rule past March, customers on fixed incomes can spread these costs over a longer period of time," said Ron Crow, vice president of Customer Experience for Laclede Gas.
Each year more than 40,000 Laclede Gas customers utilize the Cold Weather Rule payment plan. The plan has been needed more than ever with energy demand 27 percent higher than average this winter, according to the National Climatic Data Center.
If any customer is struggling, we encourage them to call Laclede Gas directly to find out about payment options. Customers can call 314-621-6960 in St. Louis or 1-800-887-4173 elsewhere.
