Laguna Development Corporation Selects Industry Leader Innovolt To Protect Thousands Of Slot Machines
Casino Properties Expect 60 percent Decrease in Repair Costs Due to New Technology
ATLANTA, Sept. 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Innovolt® Inc. announces today that it has been selected by Laguna Development Corporation (LDC) to implement its intelligent asset management and Remote Optimization Control (ROC™) technology within the corporation's three casinos. LDC manages more than 2,300 slot machines which, like other electronic equipment, rely on clean power to function properly. Without it, they can experience expensive maintenance issues and poor performance which equate to a negative customer experience.
LDC recognized a need for electronics protection and asset management years ago but had been unable to find a solution that solved the problems that are exasperated by bad weather. Between the cost of parts and down time, power outages can cost LDC as much as $70,000 per disturbance. After a highly successful proof-of-concept, in which the slot machines that were equipped with Innovolt's ROC™ technology did not fail once, LDC is moving forward and implementing Innovolt's solution throughout its three casinos: Dancing Eagle, Route 66 and Express Casinos.
"Power outages can be extremely damaging to our equipment, causing monitors and button panels to burn out, leaving our customers irritated and less likely to return. Additionally, every power disturbance costs us in both maintenance and lost revenue," explains Jeffery Inman, corporate director of slot operations for LDC. "Innovolt's solution has made a significant difference by improving equipment reliability and uptime. Since implementing its technology we've had a decrease in service issues, which I anticipate will result in a 60 percent decrease in repair costs next year."
Most businesses are unaware of the effects the environment has on the nation's power supply. However, they are unintentionally paying for these effects through shortened lifespan and decreased reliability of their electronic equipment. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, thunderstorms, hurricanes and other similar storms have accounted for 58 percent of observed power outages since 2002. Eighty-seven percent of these outages have affected more than 50,000 customers nationwide.
"The need for Innovolt's asset protection and management solution has become a number one priority for companies with highly technical and digital equipment. This is especially relevant given how prevalent and unpredictable natural disasters and storms are becoming," says Jim Mitropoulos, CEO of Innovolt. "Innovolt's technology offers cost-savings for customers and positively impacts their bottom line by extending the life of electronics equipment. For the casino industry in particular, this type of solution is imperative to protect brand reputation and ensure equipment is up and running 24/7."
