Mateo's passion for speed ignited during his childhood in Westlake Village, California, where weekend drives with his family on local tracks fostered his love for racing. A 2022 graduate of Westlake High School, Mateo was a standout athlete, earning First Team All-Conference honors as a wide receiver during his three years on the varsity football team. Mateo went on to play D1 football in Texas before transferring to UNLV to be closer to his race team. He is currently balancing a full-time education at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, demonstrating exceptional dedication both academically and on the racetrack.

Mateo only obtained his full competition license after attending Skip Barber Racing School in 2024 and has been on a tear ever since, including SCCA, POC, WRL, and Champ Car victories and podiums at Laguna Seca, Buttonwillow, Charlotte Motor Speedway, and Watkins Glen.
In 2025, Mateo will join forces with teammate Michael Ryan Johnson under the TR3 Racing banner, aiming for top honors in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series. His aspirations include winning the series, becoming a Lamborghini Young Driver program member, and ultimately competing in top-tier IMSA races.

The Lamborghini Super Trofeo series is renowned for its competitive spirit and showcases some of the most iconic circuits in the world. The 2025 North American season includes races at:
