WASHINGTON, July 25, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC), the business voice of the LGBT community, in partnership with the DNC LGBT Caucus, is excited to announce a landmark celebration in honor of the historic Democratic nominee for President of the United States and the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and the Democratic National Committee to include certified LGBT-owned businesses as suppliers for the 2016 Democratic National Convention. The invitation-only celebration will be held on Thursday, July 28th, 2016 at the Comcast Center in Philadelphia on the final evening of the Democratic National Convention.
"The NGLCC looks forward to this historic event as both a celebration of LGBT progress and a renewal of commitments to our community in the future. Together we will champion equality while we make history with the first female candidate of a major party and our most progressive platform yet," says NGLCC Co-Founder and President Justin Nelson. "Additionally, we are thrilled to celebrate the DNC leadership for its intentional inclusion of certified LGBT Business Enterprises at the 2016 Convention and beyond."
"Nothing is more essential to the American Dream than an equal seat at the table, and we're so pleased that the 1.4 million LGBT business owners in America we represent will have an opportunity to contract with the DNC during this momentous election season. It's a testament to this party's spirit of inclusion and opportunity as we work to break the few remaining glass ceilings that face the diverse communities of America," says NGLCC Co-Founder and CEO Chance Mitchell.
Special guests will include first female Speaker of the House & current Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D- CA), all openly-gay members of the Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus [Congressman David Cicilline (D-RI), Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY), Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ), Congressman Jared Polis (D-CO), Congressman Mark Pocan (D-WI), Congressman Mark Takano (D-CA)]; LGBT delegates to the Convention; pro-LGBT corporate partners from the NGLCC network; and LGBT and allied organizational leaders.
