HOUSTON, Aug. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- This month, seven of Landry's famous concepts received a cumulative 77 Wine Spectator awards as part of Wine Spectator's annual Restaurant Wine List Awards. Landry's concepts recognized by Wine Spectator include: Morton's The Steakhouse, Rusty Pelican, Vic & Anthony's, Heathman Restaurant & Bar, McCormick & Kuleto's, Brenner's Steakhouse and The Steakhouse.
Wine Spectator's Restaurant Wine List Awards recognize restaurants whose wine lists offer interesting selections, are appropriate to their cuisine and appeal to an expansive group of wine lovers. In order to qualify for an award, the list must present complete, accurate wine information including vintages and appellations for all selections, as well as wines available by the glass.

Landry's concepts were recognized in the Best of Award of Excellence category and the Award of Excellence category. Of special note, Morton's The Steakhouse has been recognized with the Award of Excellence for five years in a row. All 69 Morton's locations received the award this year. AWARD OF EXCELLENCE: Nationwide, 2,840 restaurants received the Award of Excellence, which recognizes a wine list of 100 or more "quality wine selections that thematically match a restaurant's cuisine," according to Wine Spectator.

BEST OF AWARD OF EXCELLENCE: The Best of Award of Excellence was created to give special recognition to restaurants that clearly exceed the requirements of the Award of Excellence. These lists typically offer 400 or more selections, along with superior presentation, and display either vintage depth, with several vertical offerings of top wines, or excellent breadth across several wine regions. A total of 878 restaurants were honored with this award.
