Large Corporations and Federal Agencies To Participate in Business Matchmaking Sessions at the 2012 Business Expo Hosted By the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
MARCH 15, 2012 AT THE WALTER E. WASHINGTON CONVENTION CENTER
WASHINGTON, March 2, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- More than 15 buyers and procurement officers from large corporations, local and federal agencies will participate in the business matchmaking session taking place from 3:00-5:00pm at the 2012 Business Expo hosted by the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce on March 15th.
Among these organizations looking to increase their contracts with minority-owned companies are American Red Cross, Clark Construction, Freddie Mac and government organizations such as the US Agency for International Development (USAID), Federal Reserve Board, NASA, US Navy, US Army, GSA, MBDA, Events DC and WMATA. Mauricio Vera, USAID Director of the Office of Small Disadvantaged Business Utilization, was one of the participating buyers last year. "The business matchmaking meetings we had in 2011 allowed us to meet several small and minority-owned companies looking into expanding their business opportunities with federal agencies. USAID is looking forward to meeting future collaborators and contractors at the Business Expo this March 15th," Mr. Vera affirms.
This is the second year that the Chamber will offer business matchmaking sessions at its annual business expo. The quality and quantity of buyers that are participating this year has multiplied opportunities for small businesses. "Bringing buyers from organizations with such purchasing power brings the business matchmaking to a higher level," said Andrea Stone, CEO at Dynamic Pro Inc, a minority and woman- owned government contractor. Her company is in charge of bringing decision makers to the table for the event. "I have decided to support this initiative because I have experienced firsthand how valuable a face-to-face meeting is in developing strong relationships. This year we have been able to maximize the number of opportunities that the business matchmaking brings."
Based on the small businesses' company information, the electronic matching system pairs these suppliers and buyers based on the criteria outlined in the application, such as industry, service type, company size and certifications. The one-on-one meetings are 15-minute appointments between eligible businesses and participating buyers. Small and minority-owned companies wanting to participate in the business matchmaking, please register at https://gwhcc.mybusinessmatches.com/ or contact the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, attn.: Julia Hobbes at [email protected], (202)728-0352 before close of business day on March 8th.
