Latest Water Law Developments will be Focus of Upcoming American Law Institute CLE Conference

PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- American Law Institute Continuing Legal Education (ALI CLE) and the Environmental Law Institute (ELI) have announced that Clean Water Act: Law and Regulation will be held on December 4 - 5, 2017, in Washington, D.C. This singular program combines advanced issues in water law and analyzes them in an integrated manner by examining them within a larger context.

The Clean Water Act: Law and Regulation program will provide in-depth legal analyses, policy perspectives, and insights on the state of water law today, highlighting the increase in state regulatory and enforcement action as well as the anticipated rise in citizen suits. This year's national faculty is comprised of senior public officials from federal and state/local regulators and enforcement agencies, private practitioners, scientists, and public interest advocates, and includes a keynote address from LaJuana Wilcher, a nationally known environmental attorney who has served in top-level environmental policy positions in federal and state government.

Other topics to be address at the conference include:

• The evolving definition of WOTUS
• The developing challenges of Clean Water Act Section 404 permitting
• Impaired waters and effluent standards
• Emerging issues in Clean Water Act work: Pollutants in municipal wastewater plants; invasive species in water systems; and setting water quality standards based on fish consumption rates
