Latham Adds Noted ITC Litigator in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, Feb. 26, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Latham & Watkins LLP¹ is pleased to announce that Jamie Underwood has joined the firm's Washington, D.C. office as a partner in the Litigation & Trial Department and as a member of the Intellectual Property Litigation Practice. She is a talented patent litigator with a successful track record representing leading technology and automotive clients in actions before the International Trade Commission (ITC) under Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930.

Underwood has handled dozens of ITC investigations involving patent infringement, as well as trademark, trade secret, copyright, and antitrust issues. As a function of her ITC work, Underwood has also represented clients in ancillary matters before US Customs and Border Protection, as well as in appeals before the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. In addition, Underwood litigates district court patent cases and advises companies on legislative policy issues before Congress, federal agencies, and the administration.

Underwood joins Latham from Alston & Bird in Washington, D.C. She is the second prominent lawyer with significant ITC experience to join Latham's IP Practice in recent months. Her arrival follows that of Kevin Wheeler who is also in the firm's Washington, D.C. office.

Underwood received her BA from the University of Illinois and her JD from American University Washington College of Law, magna cum laude. Following law school, Underwood clerked for Judge Truman Morrison of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia and for Chief Judge Frank Nebeker of the US Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.
