Latin Trade Announces Guatemalan President Otto Perez Molina As BRAVO Awards' 2013 Leader Of The Year

MIAMI, July 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Latin Trade Group, the leading provider of information and business services to companies operating in Latin America, announced today that the president of Guatemala, Otto Perez Molina, will be presented with the Leader of the Year Award at the 19th annual BRAVO Business Awards, on October 25 in Miami.

Since taking office in January 2012, President Perez Molina has reshaped Guatemala's foreign trade and investment outlook, effectively implementing changes to position the country as an attractive destination for investment in Latin America.

His administration has pursued public policies that have enhanced competitiveness, attracted investment and improved public security, driving Guatemala towards a path to macroeconomic stability. Under his leadership, Foreign Direct Investment in Guatemala has increased more than 20 percent from 2011 to 2012.

Perez Molina's government has spotlighted the opportunities available to foreign investors in Guatemala, focusing on key sectors including BPO, energy and oil, light manufacturing, tourism, garments and textiles, mining and infrastructure, among others.

The Guatemala Investment Summit hosted in Guatemala City at the end of May, sought to showcase the country as a stable and competitive destination for foreign investment in Latin America. Indicators support this image. According to the Doing Business 2013 report published by the World Bank, Guatemala was ranked as having the best business climate among the DR-Cafta countries.
