Leading Chinese Cloud Computing Startup DaoCloud Presents at DockerCon 2015
SAN FRANCISCO, June 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- DaoCloud today announced that co-founder Yong Yu's presentation "The Chinese Docker Community" was a great success at DockerCon 2015, held June 22 and 23 in San Francisco.
Docker, the open platform for distributed applications, has now become a hot topic among Chinese developer communities, internet companies, technology start-ups and other traditional industries. DaoCloud is an early adopter of the technology, and has been working with Docker container technology from the day DaoCloud opened its doors for business. In his speech, Yong Yu articulated to his global counterparts the application of and prospects for Docker technology in Chinese communities, markets and industries. He also presented his analysis of China's business drivers and market trends, which further showed the importance of Docker technology in the mobile era.
"DaoCloud has built an application delivery platform with Docker technology at its core and at the same time has created an open ecosystem from code hosting to cloud hosting," said David Messina, vice president of marketing at Docker. "In addition to building a Docker-based service, DaoCloud has been a valuable partner in helping grow Docker's developer community in China."
DaoCloud's core team members have practical experience in cloud computing and open source software and have developed their own theories in terms of how the technology can be best applied. Yong previously worked at Microsoft and VMware. Another co-founder, Qiyan Chen, previously worked at EMC and Oracle.
DaoCloud officially released a docker based continuous delivery cloud service in early 2015, becoming a one-stop public cloud service solution for the Docker platform. The release demonstrated that the application of container technology has evolved from the operation stage into the development stage. On the eve of the conference, DaoCloud launched a container host management service, which seamlessly integrated into the mainstream IaaS public cloud and private cloud virtual platforms both in and outside of China, marking the entry of the one-stop container application cloud platform into both hybrid cloud and corporate private cloud environments. At the same time, DaoCloud has completed the API integration with mainstream code hosting platforms located both in its home market and around the world, providing developers with a more effective and convenient delivery environment.
DaoCloud raised several million dollars in venture capital from Silicon Valley's LightSpeed Venture Partners shortly after the company's founding as a result of positive reviews of its team, market, product positioning and container technology.
In this period of transition during which every aspect of traditional IT is moving online, cloud computing will become the cornerstone. Corporate software will require fast development, iteration, deployment, operation and maintenance, while developers will require standardized and easy to operate development and delivery platforms. Docker can solve many technological difficulties of the past by freeing applications from the constraints of infrastructure. DaoCloud platform has already attracted thousands of developers and enterprise customers, including internet companies as well as traditional companies in the financial and energy sectors.
As China's leading provider of container cloud platform and business-level solutions, DaoCloud is taking an active part in the establishment of open source communities. On the community and technical level, DaoCloud is working in close cooperation with Docker, not only expanding Docker's communities in China from four major cities to 19, but also providing a mirror service for Docker Hub, which is being promoted by Docker to Chinese developers.
DaoCloud believes that Docker containers will become the standard delivery vehicle for cloud applications and will bring fundamental changes to the corporate IT framework. The container ecosystem is on track to become mainstream. "DaoCloud is committed to helping companies realize the transformation of their internet scale business and its underlying support infrastructure," said Yong Yu, "We will accelerate product development and actively build an open ecosystem to create a new generation container cloud platform oriented toward the future."
