Lederer to Seek an Acquiror

NEW YORK, Jan. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Robert Blau, President of Lederer de Paris, today announced that he and his brother Charles have decided to sell their 125 year old business.  The decision to sell is based on the brothers' desire to gradually wind down their day to day involvement in managing the business.  In describing the appeal of the Lederer business, Mr. Blau said, "The Lederer brand is perfectly positioned for a smart marketer to capitalize on the growth in demand in the luxury accessories category for 'masstige' brands.  Lederer stands for authentic, affordable luxury with lasting value because of its genuine European heritage, stunning product design and fine Italian craftsmanship, coupled with its mid-tier pricing."

Mr. Blau added. "The Lederer brand has great potential due to its broad recognition and favorable market positioning. I believe sales could be significantly increased by adding distribution channels for the company's existing products and by adding other complementary products.  However, those are projects for the next owner, although we would, of course, be willing to help in the transition."

Lederer has retained Bentley Associates, a New York based investment banking firm to serve as the company's financial advisor in connection with the sale.
