Liberation Way Hopes To Create Egg Shortage With Crack The Stigma Challenge
Treatment Facility Kicks Off Video Challenge to End Barrier to Addiction Support
YARDLEY, Pa., Aug. 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- To break a barrier that keeps people from getting addiction treatment and support, Liberation Way is smashing eggs, as part of the "Crack the Stigma" challenge that kicked off this week. Participants in the official challenge are eligible to win a trip to Disney World.
"I kept seeing challenges for other important causes and felt it's certainly time to bring more advocacy and attention to the disease of addiction," said Michael Armstrong, Chief Networking Officer at Liberation Way. "Growing up with PSA's like 'Your Brain on Drugs,' the idea of cracking the stigma by using an egg seemed fitting. This initiative is not limited to people in recovery and we encourage anyone that knows someone to grab an egg and join the cause. So many families have been devastated by addiction but the hope of rebuilding through recovery is real and we are excited to offer a Disney vacation for the individual that submit the most creative video."
Like other cause-related challenges, Liberation Way is asking people to record themselves cracking eggs in interesting ways and nominating friends to do the same. Participants are then asked to post the videos on social media. As an added incentive, people can earn entries into our contest by linking our company Facebook and Instagram pages and posting the videos using the hashtags #LiberationWayContest and #CracktheStigma. A winner from all eligible entries will be chosen on September 16, 2017. The grand prize is a trip for four to Disney World.
"Often people who need treatment are too ashamed to get it because of the stigma that is associated with addiction," said Michael Potter, Alumni Care Coordinator. "By creating the 'Crack the Stigma' challenge we are hoping to show just how many people are affected by addiction and how many people are out there to offer support to those in need. The goal is to flood social media with these videos and spread awareness. Smashing an egg with a golf driver, or breaking one on your head are just some of the unique ways you can participate."
