Liberty County School District Turns to Teachscape to Improve its Teacher Evaluation and Professional Development Processes
Florida district moves from paper-and-pen process to technology to deliver teachers with timely feedback and personalized PD
SAN FRANCISCO, July 11, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- To help improve its teacher evaluation and professional development processes, Liberty County School District in Bristol, FL has selected Teachscape, the leader in delivering Web-based solutions and expert services to improve teaching practice. With Teachscape, the district will move from a paper-based teacher evaluation process to a technology-enabled one, helping to provide timely, relevant feedback to teachers based on fair and reliable teacher evaluations.
"The adoption of Teachscape – and the use of Charlotte Danielson's Framework for Teaching – will help us move from a paper- and compliance-based teacher evaluation system to one that truly delivers quality professional development and drives teacher effectiveness," said Dr. Kathy Nobles, director of administration at Liberty County School District. "Teachscape's technology will streamline the overall teacher evaluation process and allow us to focus more on continuous improvement for our educators."
The district's administrators will receive online teacher evaluation training on the Framework for Teaching (FFT) using the Teachscape Focus observation training and assessment system. Once they pass the assessment, administrators will use the Teachscape Reflect evaluation and observation system to conduct and manage evaluations electronically. Teachscape Reflect enables teachers and observers to engage in constructive, focused dialogue about teaching practice and to collaborate on plans for improvement.
"The use of the Framework for Teaching will allow our administrators and teachers to engage in meaningful professional learning using a common language around effective teaching," said Dr. Nobles.
Developed in 1996 by Charlotte Danielson, the FFT has now been adopted in more than 20 states and is used as the basis for professional learning and teacher evaluation. Teachscape is the exclusive digital provider of the FFT Evaluation Instrument, and incorporates the Framework into its observer training, assessment and evaluation management system.
Liberty County School District is the latest district to choose Teachscape for online teacher evaluator training and assessment. Teachscape Focus is currently being used by over 40,000 observers and nearly 175,000 teachers nationwide in states throughout the country, including Pennsylvania, Illinois, Kentucky, and Rhode Island, in addition to well-respected school districts such as Escambia County School District, Pittsburgh Public Schools, Hartford Public Schools, and Syracuse City School District.
