Liberty Tabletop® Celebrates Momentous Meeting at White House with Manufacturing Leaders for 'Made in America' Week
New York-based Sherrill Manufacturing met with President Donald Trump and other small businesses to champion American-made products and workers
SHERRILL, N.Y., July 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Sherrill Manufacturing, the only flatware manufacturer in the U.S., set the table for homegrown perseverance and character at yesterday's White House meeting as part of 'Made in America' week. The event, which hosted 20 small and medium-sized business leaders from throughout the country in a roundtable discussion, focused on U.S.-manufactured products. Greg Owens and Matt Roberts, co-founders of Sherrill Manufacturing, attended the event representing their Liberty Tabletop® brand and showcased their popular Betsy Ross pattern.
"It's an exciting time to be an American business," said Greg Owens, CEO of Sherrill Manufacturing. "The made in America movement is gaining momentum nationally with policy makers, and we are privileged to have been invited to the White House to take this American issue one step further."
Sherrill Manufacturing has received bi-partisan support from legislators on both sides of the aisle to enforce 'Buy American' laws. Congresswoman Claudia Tenney, (NY-22), New Hartford, who attended the meeting at the White House, asked the President to put his support behind a House bill she introduced Wednesday titled SPOONSS (Support Procurement of our Nation's Stainless Steel) Act. This bipartisan bill would restore the Berry Amendment's longstanding domestic sourcing requirement for stainless steel flatware.
U.S. Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer, D-N.Y., has also shown support for Sherrill Manufacturing and encouraged President Trump in January to buy the company's flatware to send a positive message to U.S. manufacturers.
"We are grateful for the overwhelming support from Representative Tenney and Senator Schumer, and if this bill passes it will result in creating more jobs at Sherrill Manufacturing," Owens added.
About Sherrill Manufacturing
Sherrill Manufacturing is a family-owned and operated business that has been producing flatware for more than a decade. When many U.S. manufacturers were shutting their doors and moving their factories oversees they did just the opposite. Against the odds, Owens and Roberts saved the flatware industry by purchasing the Oneida LTD factory and launched their Liberty Tabletop brand.
Liberty Tabletop produces high-quality flatware and sells it directly to consumers across the country. The company produces 24 patterns in a variety of styles and uses only the finest 18-10 stainless steel for all flatware products. For more information, visit: http://libertytabletop.com/.
