NEW YORK, Oct. 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Libre by Nexus' contribution to the People en Espanol Festival (October 17-19 in New York City) touches on many aspects of Hispanic life in the United States. Libre by Nexus is a mission driven organization, a company that works tirelessly to reunite families torn apart by immigration detention. Working with their non-profit legal clinic, Nexus Caridades, Libre by Nexus is able to provide free legal representation to thousands of immigrant families across the country, assisting them in realizing the American dream! Nexus has reunited more than 4,000 families separated by immigration detention and, on average, reunite more than 25 families a day.
The Libre by Nexus Event Showcase location (#501, center aisle) features a wide variety of educational and entertaining events. Attorneys will be on hand each day between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm for free legal advice. Caridades attorneys will provide free consultations to review individuals' immigration status and cases, and will consider these cases for representation through our pro bono legal clinic.
Visitors can also experience the process of unjust detention in a replica holding cell. The slate of activities extends well beyond visitor education with prize giveaways and the chance to meet celebrity guests. One hundred attendees will have the chance to meet and take photos with one of our very special guests. Appearance times at the Event Showcase location are to be determined:
- Musician Henry Santos
- Musician Toby Love
- Star of Netflix's "Orange is the New Black" Dascha Polanco
"In our minds, family is someone that stands by you when times are hard, that stands up for you when others wish for you to fall, and will scream at the top of their lungs for you, if one day you fall voiceless. Family is advocacy, and Nexus is family!" – Libre by Nexus
