DETROIT, Jan. 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Lick the Plate, the popular San Diego food show produced and hosted by Royal Oak, Michigan, native David Boylan is bringing the uniquely formatted show to the Michigan airwaves on 93.9 The River in Detroit beginning March 1, 2015. Lick the Plate has secured a sponsorship from the Michigan Restaurant Association (MRA) to help bring the show to The River and tell the stories behind the burgeoning culinary scene happening in Detroit. The show will run between 15-20 minutes in length and reside on the 93.9 website as a podcast with excerpts from the show and promotions airing daily plus social media driving listeners to the podcast. A new guest will be featured weekly.
During the past three years, Lick the Plate has interviewed over 150 chefs, restaurant owners, growers, brewers and other San Diego and national culinary personalities. From San Diego's top chefs and restaurants to small mom and pop eateries, Lick the Plate has covered a wide range of the San Diego culinary scene, the people who drive it and their individual stories that go beyond their work in the kitchen. "Lick the Plate has already proven itself as a very popular show on KPRI in San Diego, a station that has a very similar format and audience to The River. That, combined with a Detroit culinary scene that is continuing to explode, teaming up with Lick the Plate was a no-brainer for The River. It's also a great way for us to show our support for the culinary community by promoting the chefs and owners who put their heart and souls into opening these restaurants," said Matt Franklin, Program Director at 93.9 The River.
David Boylan, producer and host of Lick the Plate is thrilled to be bringing his show to Detroit. "I'm a Michigan native, having grown up in Royal Oak, and spent the early part of my career here. I have very strong culinary, grower, and brewery connections throughout Southeastern Michigan and all over the state including my annual role as a judge at the Asparagus Festival in Empire. On regular trips back to Detroit over the past 10 years I've seen first hand the transformation of the culinary scene here. Lick the Plate on The River will be featuring guests primarily from the Detroit metropolitan area but also from all over the state as the culinary revolution here is happening everywhere. Besides chefs, I'll be talking to the farmers and other vendors who supply them. There are so many great stories out there, and Lick the Plate will enable listeners to really get to know my guests. Detroit is well on its way to becoming a culinary destination and it's my goal to help that effort along and bring the state the attention it deserves."
