LifeBEAM to provide Team Beyond with the bio-sensing technology its athletes need to prepare for the Atlantic Challenge, a 3,000 nautical mile race
TEL AVIV, Israel, April 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- LifeBEAM, a developer of bio-sensing technology, today announced their sponsorship of Phillip Theodore and Daley Ervin, founders of Team Beyond, who will row 3,000 nautical miles in the Atlantic Challenge, a cross-ocean race. By the December 15 start date, Team Beyond expects to raise over $1 million in an effort to feed 5 million Americans that are currently struggling with hunger.

To prepare for the Atlantic Challenge, Team Beyond athletes will use the LifeBEAM Smart Hat to monitor their heart rate and calories burned in real-time. Their expert trainers will analyze this data to enhance their performance and help the team gain a critical advantage during the event. In addition to the Smart Hats that Phillip and Daley will train with, LifeBEAM has donated Smart Hats that will be given away in various fundraisers, social media contests and other Team Beyond events.
The LifeBEAM Smart Hat transmits heart rate, calorie consumption and cadence measurements via Bluetooth and ANT+ protocols to mobile fitness apps and smart devices. The hat relies on the same bio-sensing technology that is used by fighter pilots, astronauts and special forces, and it will help Team Beyond master their performance metrics.
Phillip and Daley have each achieved remarkable levels of professional success while tackling some of the world's toughest ultra-endurance events. Their experience includes 10 startups, 15 ultramarathons, 12 marathons and 10 triathlons.
