LifeCare Hospitals Hires Frank Battafarano as COO

PLANO, Texas, Feb. 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- LifeCare Holdings LLC, which operates LifeCare Hospitals, a leading long term acute care hospital (LTACH) and post acute care system specializing in the treatment and recovery of medically complex patients, has named Frank J. Battafarano as chief operating officer. Battafarano has served in the position on an interim basis since October 2014.

Battafarano brings more than 30 years of leadership experience in the long term and post acute sectors and is a former board member of both the American Long Term Hospital Association and the Federation of American Hospitals.

Prior to joining LifeCare, Battafarano held several positions with Louisville, Kentucky-based Kindred Healthcare, Inc., including chief operating officer, executive vice president and president of the hospital division. While with Kindred, Battafarano successfully led the company through a period of significant regulatory change, guided the development of its cluster market and network development activities, oversaw advancement of the company's marketing activities and implemented an enterprise-wide managed care strategy.
