Lincoln Military Housing Residents Win Farm Fresh Shopping Spree at Local Blood Drive

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., Aug. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of their Three Minutes to Save Lives program, WVEC News Channel 13 partnered with the American Red Cross and Farm Fresh to hold three blood drives throughout the Hampton Roads region. As a special thanks to their generous donors Farm Fresh provided six three-minute shopping sprees through a drawing at the end of the blood drive and guaranteed three local military families a chance to win.

The Ninakawa family of Lincoln Military Housing's Whitehurst Farms community blew the Farm Fresh shopping spree record out of the water by walking away with 10 carts of groceries totaling over $1,400.  After the shopping spree had ended, Farm Fresh executives surprised the family and matched the amount with a gift card for future shopping trips.  After a successful event Farm Fresh enlisted the help of their floral department to drive the family's groceries home in the store's floral delivery van.

The Smith family of Lincoln Military Housing's Willoughby Bay community walked away with over $1,200 in groceries, including a new grill and a gift card matching the value of their groceries! With the help of FM99 radio station personalities and Lincoln Military Housing's Community Service's team, both families were able to push their shopping carts quickly through the store.
