Linux Foundation Welcomes Agentgateway Project to Accelerate AI Agent Adoption While Maintaining Security, Observability and Governance

Agentgateway project enables reliable, governed and scalable agentic workflows in enterprise and multi-agent systems

AMSTERDAM, Aug. 25, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Open Source Summit Europe – The Linux Foundation, the nonprofit organization enabling mass innovation through open source, today welcomed the agentgateway project, an open source, AI-native proxy, created by cloud native application networking company Solo.io to optimize connectivity, security, and observability in agentic AI environments.

There are many gateways available today, but most were designed before the rise of AI agents and struggle to support modern AI protocols without major rearchitecture. To keep up with the rapidly evolving industry, organizations need a purpose-built agent gateway – one designed specifically for the fast-evolving AI ecosystem. Agentgateway is the first and only data plane built from the ground up for AI agents, governing and securing communication across agent-to-agent, agent-to-tool and agent-to-LLM interactions.

Agentgateway supports leading protocols including Agent2Agent (A2A), which was recently contributed to the Linux Foundation, and Anthropic's Model Context Protocol (MCP). The project has attracted contributors from leading organizations such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Cisco, Huawei, IBM, Microsoft, Red Hat, Shell and Zayo.
