NEW YORK, March 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- With an elegant black-and-white cover that evokes Old Hollywood glamour in a natural, ink-free, sophisticated style, the award-winning, all-digital luxury magazine for women VIVmag today launched its March/April 2011 Green Issue coinciding with Women's History Month in March and the 70th anniversary of Earth Day in April.
Now available on the iPad, iPhone, Mac and PC, the latest issue is brimming with VIVmag's trademark multi-media features, including exclusive greener-living insights to help make your food, fashion, lifestyle and fitness choices more earth-friendly.
"Last year's Green Issue earned VIVmag the coveted title of Leading Digital Edition at min's Editorial & Design Awards in November and this year's issue is just as impressive," said VIVmag's Vice President of Brand Marketing, Adrienne A. Wallace.
The much-anticipated issue had been delayed for several days due to technical issues on the Zinio platform, which hosts the magazine's web servers. Round-the-clock work by Zinio's IT and engineering teams to restore core web services brought the issue online. Wallace acknowledged that while the systems failure was devastating for the Zinio and VIVmag teams who've worked so hard to build the vision for the magazine, it pales in comparison to the real devastation that's struck the island nation of Japan.
"As our Green/awareness issue, this edition reminds us just how fragile our planet and our existence here can be and the calamity that's unfolded in Japan is a startling reminder of the powerful forces of nature at work every day," she said. "Our hearts go out to the people of Japan and their families around the world. No doubt we've all taken stock of our lives over the past few weeks in the wake of this epic tragedy. As this issue explores numerous ways to live a better life, we hope that it may bring a bit of escape and solace to our readers all over the world."
In conjunction with March/April issue, VIVmag aims to raise the bar for greener living with the launch of its new "Greener Life" subscription contest. Lucky new VIVmag members will be rewarded with free green-living prizes featured in the March/April issue. The contest is being cross-promoted on the VIVmag website, through the magazine's social media pages and its VIVMaven Affiliate Network of bloggers and online influencers.
"We stand firm on the brand pillar of Awareness and our role as an all-digital publication in saving millions of printed paper pages," Wallace said. "We even take it one step further with this issue's featured PSAs showcasing the great work of many non-profit and awareness organizations."
To participate in the contest, go to www.vivmag.com now through April 30 and become a new member subscriber at the special discounted rate of just $20 for a full year of bimonthly issues. Each new member subscriber will be automatically entered to win the Greener Life prize pack. VIVmag will select one winner per week. A special book review section highlights titles about food and the environment, and a trend-watch piece on gardening and keeping chickens shows how to take a more active role in determining where your food comes from to minimize environmental impact.
"Most everyone can agree that we each have a responsibility to be good stewards and to leave the planet in as good or better shape for future generations," said Anne M. Russell, editor-in-chief, VIVmag. "But, many may believe that 'going green' is more difficult than it's worth. In this issue, readers will find a plethora of simple and practical, yet impactful, tips that can make living a greener lifestyle both more rewarding and more convenient."
In addition to greener living coverage, VIVmag's signature interactive Style and Beauty features include an expose on the fine art of concealing, runway reports on the sexiest fashion prints and beauty looks for spring, plus the latest must-have retro-glam products that interpret the disco as today's hottest looks.
