"Living Minute" Series - Fighting Flu Together

MIAMI, Dec. 2, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- With flu season upon us during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it's doubly important to lessen the risk of getting the flu. South Florida PBS Health Channel's "Living Minute" series is here to keep you informed on the latest developments.

Flu Shots Needed to Prevent "Twindemic":  Last year's flu season was very mild because we were still in the midst of COVID-19 restrictions regarding masks and social distancing. But this year, health leaders say there's a real risk of a "twindemic" of flu and COVID happening.

Why the Flu is so Dangerous For Kids: Unlike COVID-19, young children are at high risk of serious complications from influenza infections, so getting a flu shot should be a top priority for protecting kids. The peak of flu season is from December to February.

The Living Minute series consists of daily one-minute reports infused with health and hope covering a range of topics. Reports air on South Florida PBS' channels, WPBT, WXEL and Health Channel and are published on social media @AllHealthGo and website (www.livingminute.tv.) Every day, reports are shared  with PBS stations across the country through MyPBS and Wavelength at no cost.
