L&L Products Introduces Toughened T-Link® Thermoplastic Adhesive for Ductile Layered Epoxy Carbon-Fiber Composites

New fully amorphous thermoplastic adhesive technology is designed to increase ductility, flexural performance, energy absorption, and compression-after-impact strength in high-performance composite structures.

ROMEO, Mich., Sept. 21, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- L&L Products today announced the release of Toughened T-Link®, an advanced engineered thermoplastic adhesive developed to improve the performance of layered epoxy carbon-fiber composites. Designed for composite applications that demand high ductility, flexural strength, and impact performance, Toughened T-Link® enhances the proven T-Link® platform while maintaining the processing advantages of a thermoplastic adhesive.

Toughened T-Link® combines superior adhesion, dry-to-the-touch handling, room-temperature storage, and fast consolidation into composite structures while featuring enhanced impact-resistant features for use in demanding environments. The technology is engineered to conform to deep-drawn and irregularly shaped parts. It is available for purchase or sampling in pellet, micropellet, and film formats, with converted yarn and filament formats under development.

In internal testing, composite panels made with Toughened T-Link® film and epoxy prepreg layers demonstrated a considerable increase in short beam shear performance under ASTM D2344 and a 66% increase in compressive strength after impact under ASTM D7137 compared with panels made with epoxy prepreg layers only.

The Toughened T-Link® platform was developed to meet the long-standing need for enhanced ductility in layered epoxy carbon-fiber composites while preserving the processing benefits customers expect from T-Link® materials. This technology gives manufacturers another way to design lighter, stronger, and more damage-tolerant composite structures for demanding applications.
