LMU School of Film and Television presents The Masters

Moderated by Stephen Galloway, Cosgrove Visiting Artist and The Hollywood Reporter's executive features editor, The Masters brings distinguished guests David O. Russell, Alfonso Cuaron, Sherry Lansing, Judd Apatow, John Singleton, William Friedkin, Gary Ross and Alan Horn to campus for a series of master classes

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Loyola Marymount University School of Film and Television has announced The Masters, a new interview series that will be held on the LMU campus beginning in February. Moderated by award-winning journalist Stephen Galloway, named the SFTV Cosgrove Family Distinguished Visiting Artist 2014, the series is an in-depth exploration of a modern master's entire career. During each 90-minute interview, Galloway will use clips and archival material to lead a lively discussion, inviting student participation, and probing guests to reveal some of the critical decisions they made that altered their careers.

The Masters kicks off on February 12, 2014 with director Alfonso Cuaron and continues on February 21, 2014 with David O. Russell (both nominated this year for a Best Director Oscar). Additional confirmed guests for the Spring semester include producer and former chairman of Paramount Pictures Sherry Lansing; writer-director-producer Judd Apatow (Bridesmaids, The 40-Year-Old Virgin); writer-director John Singleton (Boyz n the Hood, 2 Fast 2 Furious); director William Friedkin (The Exorcist, The French Connection); chairman of The Walt Disney Studios Alan Horn and writer-director Gary Ross (Seabiscuit, The Hunger Games).

The Cosgrove Family Distinguished Visiting Artist Endowment was established to support a distinguished artist whose work will create, teach, inspire and connect SFTV to the creative filmmaking community. Past Cosgrove artists include Deepa Mehta, Paula Wagner and Richard Taylor.

The Masters will be taped before a live audience; the series is open to LMU SFTV students only. The series complements THR's signature Oscar Roundtables.
