Local Catholic Healthcare West Hospitals Join SCAN Health Plan Arizona Provider Network

PHOENIX, Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- SCAN Health Plan Arizona announced today that three local Catholic Healthcare West (CHW) hospitals joined the health plan's provider network, effective Jan. 1. As a result, SCAN members in Maricopa County now have access to St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center, Chandler Regional Medical Center, and Mercy Gilbert Medical Center.

"We are pleased to add three highly respected CHW hospitals to the SCAN Health Plan network, further expanding our scope of services," said Tom Lescault, president of SCAN Health Plan Arizona. "All of these facilities have a longstanding relationship with the community and a reputation for providing exceptional care."

St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center, founded in 1895 by the Sister's of Mercy, is home to the renowned Barrow Neurological Institute and has a Level-1 trauma center. The 700-bed hospital also is known for its thoracic, cardiology and cancer services.

Opened in 1961, Chandler Regional Medical Center is known for its emergency department, heart and vascular center, family birth center and award-winning community outreach programs.

Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, a full-service acute-care facility, opened with 182 beds in 2006 and has plans to grow to 400 beds as community needs increase. The medical center offers a large variety of health services, including an emergency department; surgical, women's, imaging, cardiac and cancer/oncology services; and a sleep center.
