Local Developer Donates Tens Of Thousands Of Dollars To East Harlem Summer Camp Ensuring That Its Programs Will Remain Funded

EAST HARLEM, N.Y., July 5, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Meyer Orbach, founder of the Orbach Group, announced today that the real estate company will donate up to $50,000 to Union Settlement's Summer Camp in East Harlem.

For over 100 years, Union Settlement has been providing services to the East Harlem community from early childhood education to youth programs to small business development. The summer camp, which had its first day of the season on July 5^th, serves hundreds of children giving them a safe, fun and educational place to go all summer. This donation will make sure the summer programs are available and sustainable for the future. Campers at Union Settlement summer camp take trips to local museums and parks as well as participate in arts, dance, and sports programs.

Taj Gibson, a current player on the Minnesota Timberwolves, joined Meyer Orbach for the camp's first day of the season. Gibson is a native of Fort Greene, Brooklyn who currently wears the number 67 in honor of his elementary school, P.S. 67.

I grew up playing ball on the streets of Brooklyn and it is important for kids to know that if they work hard, study hard and play hard, they can be anything they want to be – I'm living proof of that. I love mentoring kids and I want to thank the Orbach Group for making sure programs like this one are able to survive," said Gibson.

Orbach is a partner in the Minnesota Timberwolves NBA team.
