Local Residents in Need to Benefit from Just Energy Thanksgiving Donations

YONKERS, N.Y., Nov. 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Thanksgiving will be more complete for some local residents thanks to a generous donation by Just Energy, one of the leading electric and gas retailers in North America.

This week, a total of 50 turkeys, approximately 650 lbs., were donated to three local nonprofits who serve communities in need: My Sisters' Place, a comprehensive domestic violence agency providing shelter, legal services, education and prevention programs; Greyston Health Services, a comprehensive provider of HIV health care and Meals on Wheels of Cortland County. Both My Sisters' Place and Greyston Health Services serve Westchester County.

"This Thanksgiving donation is one of our largest," said Lauren Kahn, Development Coordinator of My Sisters' Place. "We are grateful to Just Energy for their generous donation and for their support for victims of domestic violence and human trafficking."

Many Just Energy representatives contributed time and expense toward the donations, but one person in particular, Patrick Gilliland, led the donation drive and expanded its reach from last year. A resident of Cortland County, Gilliland has been working with Just Energy for three years and is active in supporting his community.

"These organizations provide valuable social services, but they need support from their local communities.
