Lodi Winegrape Commission Launches "LoCA" Brand Campaign
"LoCA" Seeks to Call Attention to Region and its Passion for Wine
LODI, Calif., Oct. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- LoCA is the new brand being promoted nationally beginning today to call attention to the Lodi region and its passion for wine. LoCA – short for Lodi, California – is one of the state's most historic wine regions and home to more than 100,000 acres of winegrapes farmed by more than 700 growers as well as more than 75 wine tasting rooms.
"Clearly, wine has played a major role in our community since the Gold Rush, and we want to call attention to the region and our great wines bearing the Lodi name," said fourth-generation winegrape grower Richard Lauchland. "This area is passionate, even a little obsessed, about growing and making great wine so we want everyone to learn more about our wines, visit our wineries and know that this is one of the most accessible and authentic wine communities in the country."
The campaign, launching today, will include print advertisements in national and regional magazines and newspapers, billboards, online banner ads, social media and more. A new website and smart phone application have been developed to further the campaign making it easy for consumers to learn about the many wine varieties produced in the Lodi wine region, the location of area wineries and tasting rooms, and to create more fans of Lodi wines.
"The response to this campaign from focus groups and consumers has been extremely positive," said Mark Chandler, Executive Director, Lodi Winegrape Commission. "It is memorable, it is fun and it perfectly positions our wines and our community exactly as they are – fun, real and approachable."
The Lodi wine region features 100,000 vineyard acres that thrive in the classic Mediterranean climate featuring warm days and cool evenings. With more than 60 varieties currently being grown, Lodi offers a diverse portfolio of wines. While long known as a superior producer of Zinfandel, the area has also been producing award-winning Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay. Newer varieties to the area include Albarino, Tempranillo, Viognier and Syrah.
