LoJack Releases Fourth Annual Vehicle Theft Recovery Report

CANTON, Mass., March 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- LoJack Corporation (NASDAQ: LOJN) today released its fourth annual Vehicle Theft Recovery Report*, which reviews auto theft trends over the past year that are specific to vehicles equipped with a LoJack® Stolen Vehicle Recovery System.  In 2012 alone, law enforcement officials recovered nearly $125 million in stolen vehicles that were installed with a LoJack® device.

For the third year in a row, the Honda Accord was ranked as the most stolen and recovered vehicle equipped with a LoJack system.  The following were the top 10 "most stolen and recovered" vehicles in 2012:

"According to the most recent reports from the FBI, a vehicle is stolen every 44 seconds**.  Today's report data reveals that cars, trucks and SUVs equipped with LoJack devices were recovered 94 percent of the time in 2012," said Patrick Clancy, the Vice President of Law Enforcement for LoJack Corporation. "Such a significant recovery success rate – which is even more impressive as the national recovery rate for stolen vehicles is at a 30-year low of 52% -- is a direct result of the LoJack system's proven technology and integration with law enforcement.  Based on the latest data, a stolen car not equipped with a LoJack system is eight times more likely to not be recovered.  Unlike other location-based systems, LoJack Police Tracking Computers can find vehicles in some of the most isolated locations, including shipping containers about to depart the United States."

• Oldest Stolen Vehicle Recovered: 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air
• Most Expensive Stolen Vehicle Recovered: 2009 Bentley Brooklands worth $209,600
• First Recovery of the Year: 2008 Chevy Silverado on January 1st at 12:53 a.m.
• Last Recovery of the Year: 2007 Audi A4 on Dec 31st at 10:37 p.m.
• Percentage Increase of Stolen Hybrids Recovered in 2012 versus 2011: 7.5%
• Most Common Color Stolen and Recovered: Black
• Least Common Color Stolen and Recovered: Blue
