London's Olympia Opens its Doors for the Working Buildings Series

Lord Sebastian Coe KBE, Kit Malthouse, Deputy Mayor for London for Business and Enterprise, Government Chief Construction Advisor Paul Morrell OBE and Andrew Amery from LOCOG are just some of the keynote speakers participating in the Working Building Series over the next two days.

The annual gathering for those working within facilities and energy management, building services and security kicked off today at London's Olympia. Running over the next two days Building Services - The CIBSE Conference & Exhibition, Energy Solutions 2012, The FM Event and the inaugural Global Security Summit will bring together professionals from across the working building sector to discover the latest products and innovations, discuss and debate their industry and network with peers.

 With more than 320 companies confirmed to exhibit across the four shows there will be ample opportunity for visitors to discover all the latest products, services and solutions from across all four industries. Exhibitors include Baxi Commercial, Mitsubishi, Samsung, Rexel Energy Solutions, Power Perfector, iVolt, NQA, Office Depot, Grundon Waste Management, The PURE Water Company, Panasonic UK, G4S, Bosch and RISCO amongst many others.

One of the highlights across all four shows will take place this morning at 10:35am in Global Security Summit London where Andrew Amery, Head of Security Co-ordination at London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) will deliver the address 'The Journey to a Secure Games'.  Amery will conduct the joint presentation alongside David Evans, FSyI, Project Director 2012 at the British Security Industry (BSIA) discussing partnerships in planning and delivery, LOCOG's engagement and partnerships with the Games' international community and sponsors, and the legacy of the Games.

Continuing the Olympic theme, Lord Sebastian Coe KBE is set to give the keynote address as part of Energy Solutions 2012. Taking the stage at 3.30pm he will discuss the challenges he has faced throughout his career, specifically his role as part of a leadership team managing high-profile projects with huge sustainability targets. He will also discuss how he motivates change in mindset and behaviour to achieve project goals, at the end of his session Lord Coe will host a brief Q&A.

Additionally, the annual CIBSE Conference also kicks off today, this year Paul Morrell OBE, Chief Construction Advisor to the Government since 2009, will give the keynote address, providing in depth insight into the construction industry as a whole whilst looking at the challenges and opportunities around financing in the future and the drive for sustainability.

Tomorrow's programme of events will see Kit Malthouse, Deputy Mayor for London for Business and Enterprise, deliver an address on the Mayor's Apprenticeships Campaign in the Global Security Summit London Seminar Theatre at 10.10am.  Mr Malthouse will set out how City Hall has led on a campaign with London's employers which has seen the number of apprenticeships in London double, highlighting the value that apprenticeships can bring to business and the importance of encouraging more small-medium sized employers to build apprenticeships into their workforce.

With over 150 hours of free-to-attend CPD and CPE accredited sessions running across the two days visitors will have numerous opportunities to improve their knowledge on the latest legislation and innovations, debate key issues and share best practice.

Attendees registered to attend the four co-located events include representatives working across UK and international industry. The Arcadia Group, Science Museum, NHS, Motorola, BSkyB, Barclays, Tesco Stores Ltd, IBM and Marks and Spencer are a selection of some of the companies who will be visiting the Working Buildings Series over the next two days.

The Working Buildings Series  is supported by leading industry bodies including the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), The Carbon Trust, The UK Green Building Council, British Institute for Facilities Management (BIFM), Facilities Management Association (FMA), British Security Industry Association (BSIA), Security Institute and the International Professional Security Association (IPSA), amongst others.
