Long Island Business Owners Remain Optimistic as Economic Confidence Continues to Increase

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y, Feb. 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Long Island business leaders expressed increased economic confidence and remain optimistic about business growth on Long Island, according to the results from the AVZ 23^rd Annual Long Island Economic Survey and Opinion Poll.  A panel of Long Island business and government leaders will discuss the survey findings as the  HIA-LI, one of the recognized voices for business on Long Island,  hosts its Annual Long Island Economic Summit, Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Hyatt Regency Long Island in Hauppauge, NY. Among the survey highlights of the poll conducted in late 2016, respondents indicated:

• 6.1 National economic confidence rating remains steady from last year.
• The Long Island economic confidence rating increased from 6.1 to 6.3.
• 66% of respondents realized an increase in revenue in 2016.
• 86% increased prices for products or services in 2016.
• 38% of respondents increased headcount in 2016.
• 42% of businesses have job openings that are hard to fill.
  

For the third year in row, findings indicate the Healthcare industry is forecasted to grow in the number one spot and Technology remains in the second spot for the largest growth industry on Long Island. 

The summit will help measure and assess the Long Island business community based on the AVZ survey and panel discussions on issues including new legislations, the LI housing market, job growth, effects of the confidence ratings and availability of credit to businesses.
