Long Island Plastic Surgical Group Partner, Dr. Roger L. Simpson, To Deliver First Annual Harry S. Soroff Memorial Lecture At Stony Brook University Burn Center

Simpson (www.lipsg.com/about-our-practice/our-doctors/dr-simpson-new-york/), partner at Long Island Plastic Surgical Group, the largest and longest running private plastic surgery practice in the United States, was recently given the distinctive honor of delivering the First Annual Memorial Burn Lecture in tribute to Harry S. Soroff, MD, the founding chairman of Stony Brook University's Department of Surgery, who passed away in August at the age of 86.

Dr. Simpson's talk was delivered during Surgical Grand Rounds and was broadcast live throughout Stony Brook and its affiliated hospitals.  During Dr. Simpson's time on campus, he also met with surgical residents and students to discuss interesting cases as well as burn-related research they are currently performing.

While at Stony Brook, Dr. Soroff aggressively and rapidly established the Surgical Department at Stony Brook into a renowned institution of academic and clinical excellence.  One of Dr. Soroff's initial priorities in heading the department was to actively recruit talented and gifted surgeons, and as a result, the department quickly became one of the foremost institutions of its kind not only on Long Island but throughout the U.S. and beyond.
