The new look is designed to strengthen brand messaging, enhance shelf prominence and establish consistency across various distribution channels.
"The redesign of the Longhorn packaging still features the recognizable and distinctive iconic 4-color bull, however, the branding change introduces a modernized logotype while utilizing specialty varnishes and metallic inks to increase visibility at retail" according to Tracy Vernon, Associate Brand Manager for Moist Snuff. The new branding includes gold and silver lids designed to elevate and differentiate the loose snuff and pouch products. The pouch cans will also feature a unique compartment lid, which allows consumers to store their used pouches and toss them later—the "Stow and Throw" lid.
The branding change highlights Longhorn's heritage and quality, and elevates its visibility and presence on the shelf. The new look will be supplemented with direct mailers, e-mail blasts, a revamped Longhorn website and trade advertising. Longhorn Moist Snuff is available in approximately 90,000 retail stores nationwide.
