Lord & Taylor Receives Top Award From design:retail For 2015 Holiday Window Display

NEW YORK, Dec. 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Lord & Taylor was named Platinum recipient—the top honor—of design:retail magazine's Winning Windows award for its 2015 holiday window display in New York City.

design:retail's Winning Windows awards honor the top three Manhattan retailers for their excellence in holiday window design. Judging is based on three criteria: originality and creativity; spirit of the season; and, technical aspects of the execution.

This year, guests visiting the flagship location at 424 Fifth Avenue will experience a state-of-the-art journey through "A few of our favorite things..." while walking underneath a magical awning of greenery and twinkling lights. The windows portray four animated scenes of warm and comforting holiday memories:

• A gingerbread kingdom, featuring a handmade oversized Victorian gingerbread house being held aloft by dozens of dancing gingerbread men; the piping of the icing is so realistic you can almost smell the sweet gingerbread;
• The holiday countdown, an ornate mansion with 24 windows counting down the days to Christmas; each of the windows opens to reveal an iconic holiday image—plus a special surprise when all 24 open!
• A larger-than-life cuckoo clock captures the midnight hour and the anticipation of what's to come; the hours spin by and each time the clock hits midnight, a great celebration awaits;
• Lastly, a peek inside our Sweets Shoppe, inspired by a traditional Parisian bakery and filled with decadent holiday treats – that come to life in an entertaining performance.

Lord & Taylor's 78^th annual world-renowned holiday window display was unveiled on Nov. 12 with an event in partnership with Habitat for Humanity New York City, and will be on view until early January.
