May 17, 2012, 09:00 ET from LPL Financial LLC

SAN DIEGO, May 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- LPL Financial LLC, the nation's largest independent broker-dealer* and a wholly owned subsidiary of LPL Investment Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: LPLA), today announced that Sallie Larsen was appointed managing director and chief human capital officer as of May 1, 2012.  Ms. Larsen is based in San Diego and reports to Mark Casady, LPL Financial chairman and CEO.

In her new role, Ms. Larsen will be responsible for guiding the company's overall human capital and talent acquisition strategies, as well as for designing and implementing competency-driven management development initiatives to support LPL Financial's continued innovation and growth as a leading provider of services to independent financial advisors and institutions.  In addition to her key responsibilities in the area of human capital, Ms. Larsen will have oversight of issues relating to real estate, facilities, and corporate communication as a member of the firm's executive management committee.

Mr. Casady said, "We are very pleased to welcome Sallie Larsen to LPL Financial.  Her expertise in the development and execution of human capital strategies at a variety of companies will be instrumental in driving the evolution of our human capital practices and infrastructure in order to better support our firm's future growth.  I am particularly excited to leverage Sallie's experience in developing and shaping corporate cultures that are both customer-centric and highly engaging for employees – an approach that will unlock new sources of strategic value both for us and for the advisors and institutions we work to support each day."

Sallie Larsen brings more than three decades of human resources and talent management experience to her new role.  Prior to joining LPL Financial, Ms. Larsen served as chief human resources officer for the Federal Home Loan Bank – Office of Finance (FHLB-OF) since 2009, where she was responsible for modernizing the organization's human resources infrastructure and implementing a new human capital strategy to respond to changing priorities in the wake of the global financial crisis of 2008.  While embracing additional oversight responsibilities in areas such as corporate governance, ethics and diversity, Ms. Larsen helped to establish a culture focused on operational excellence and strong people practices.

Ms. Larsen said, "I am very pleased to be joining LPL Financial, a dynamic and growing organization that has prioritized the development of its human capital at all levels.  Our goal is to provide satisfying and engaging work by nurturing our corporate ecosystem—that complex relationship among our people, the buildings and spaces we work in every day and the information we share with employees about our firm and its values. It also means we become a deeper part of the social fabric of our communities through entities such as the LPL Financial Charitable Foundation, which engages employees to improve the lives of our neighbors and invests in our local communities to promote economic empowerment through education, career skills development, and financial literacy programs."

Prior to her work at FHLB-OF, Ms. Larsen served in a number of senior human resources roles at Capital One Financial Corporation and Marriott International, Inc.  She began her professional career as a human resources and talent management professional at technology and business services firm TRW, Inc.
