MILPITAS, Calif., Nov. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- LSI Corporation (NYSE: LSI) today announced its 2nd annual Accelerating Innovation Summit and Technology Showcase. The two-day, invitation-only event, taking place November 16-17 in Milpitas, Calif., brings together LSI and other industry leaders to share their expert insights into the issues, trends and technology solutions that will drive the storage and networking industries in the coming years. The accompanying Technology Showcase offers live demonstrations of the latest innovative silicon and software technologies from LSI and selected partners.

"The future of storage and networking requires higher performing, more intelligent systems to contend with the data growth caused by the proliferation of mobile devices and datacenters," said Abhi Talwalkar, president and CEO, LSI. "This is a vital time in our industry's evolution, and we're bringing together experts from across the storage and networking landscapes to talk about how adding acceleration and intelligence to the datacenter and mobile networks can solve the huge challenges ahead."

The summit's keynote speakers include Dr. Dileep Bhandarkar, Chief Architect, Microsoft Global Foundation Services, and Mike Chenery, Senior Fellow, SanDisk Enterprise Storage Solutions. Dr. Bhandarkar will discuss one of the most pressing issues facing the industry: how to improve total cost of ownership and energy efficiency at all levels of the compute infrastructure in the datacenter. Mr. Chenery will share his unique insight on how the cloud has influenced the amount of data growth generated worldwide, and why NAND flash memory holds the key to meeting both current and future data storage challenges.

The summit includes multiple sessions focused on storage and networking silicon and software technologies that are helping to accelerate innovation in datacenters, mobile networks and the cloud. Additionally, there will be panel discussions with industry luminaries on topics such as the future of RAID data protection, application acceleration using solid-state storage and 4G mobile network architecture perspectives.

"The tremendous response to this event underscores the enormous challenges of the rapidly changing marketplace. Today's datacenter or mobile network architect has to balance competing priorities such as power consumption, surging network traffic and rapidly growing data volumes, and the summit is a place to meet with peers to better understand the landscape and the innovative solutions available," Talwalkar continued.

Summit attendees may also visit the LSI Technology Showcase to view 30 live demonstrations of the latest storage and networking technologies from LSI and select partners. Partner exhibits will be hosted by AMD, Amkor Technology, Apache, Cadence, Enea, IDT, Mentor Graphics, SandForce, SanDisk, SerialTek, Synopsys, TSMC and Wind River.
