Lt. Governor, NBA Legend, and NASA Astronaut to Open Upcoming Global Water Education Conference Sponsored by Project WET Foundation
Interactive event at Big Sky Resort June 24-27 will include diverse range of presentations, discussions and activities.
BOZEMAN, Mont., May 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Montana Lt. Governor Angela McLean, the National Board Certified Teacher who traded her classroom for the capitol earlier this year, will address participants at the opening luncheon of the Sustaining the Blue Planet (http://www.projectwet.org/blueplanet) Global Water Education conference next month at Big Sky Resort in Montana. McLean's remarks will precede the conference keynote, which NBA Legend and water education advocate Harvey Catchings will present. NASA Astronaut Ricky Arnold will introduce Catchings and speak later on technology and water education during the June 24th to 27th conference. The Project WET Foundation, a Montana-based nonprofit organization working around the world to increase awareness about the importance of water, is sponsoring Sustaining the Blue Planet.

The opening speakers will kick off four days of interactive water education discussion, with more than 60 presenters scheduled. Participants will come together for two expert panels—one on gender and water and the other on technology in water education—as well as for topic table discussions, networking events and poster sessions. A barbecue and silent auction on Thursday, June 26th, will benefit the water, sanitation and hygiene education work that Project WET and The Traveling School, another Montana nonprofit, are conducting together in Latin America and Africa. New NASA teaching tools developed by Project WET will be launched during the conference as well.

Field tours in Yellowstone National Park as well as recreational activities such as horseback riding and whitewater rafting will allow participants to get out of the conference room and into Montana's impressive outdoors. Informal activities including nature walks and water-sector interest dinners are also on offer.
