PARK CITY, Utah, Nov. 2, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- LuMee LLC, the maker of the original and patented illuminated LuMee® smart phone cases, announced today that it has expanded its patent portfolio through an agreement with Windy Place, Inc. The Windy Place patent portfolio, including U.S. Patent No. 9,442,346, issued on September 13, 2016 (provisional application filed Jan. 28, 2011), significantly strengthens LuMee's intellectual property position and will allow LuMee to expand its technology through product innovations.
In addition, LuMee will continue to engage international enforcement of the full breadth of its expanded intellectual property rights. Due to the ongoing success of the LuMee case and its partnerships, numerous low quality "knockoffs" have recently garnered attention in the market. These low quality "knockoffs" have made various claims, such as having innovations that precede LuMee technology, or allegedly rival the LuMee product. However, many of the "knockoffs" contain cheaply made, and potentially hazardous components. LuMee is currently placing companies and manufacturers on notice for their violation of LuMee's brand and intellectual property rights, and will continue to vigorously pursue these matters.
"Since bringing the first illuminated smart phone cases to market, we have recognized the importance of continuously developing and fiercely protecting the LuMee brand, built on high-quality products and lighting innovations," said Robert G. Pedersen II, LuMee's Chairman and CEO. "This expansion of our patent portfolio will solidify our leadership position in the marketplace, allow for new product development opportunities and strengthen our mission to innovate and vigilantly defend our intellectual property rights and trademarks."
The LuMee trademark enforcement team works closely with law enforcement and has made a number of arrests, including felony charges of trademark counterfeiting. In addition, LuMee works closely with Customs and Border Protection, identifying and seizing counterfeit cases coming into the country. To ensure the purchase of a genuine LuMee product contains the highest quality products, protection and warranty, the company encourages customers to only purchase products from LuMee.com and authorized LuMee retailers, such as Apple, Amazon, and Target.
LuMee was the first to bring the illuminated, LED-lit smart phone case to market, making the product available to people in the U.S. and around the world since 2014. To protect and ensure customers receive authentic LuMee products, LuMee is continuously expanding its extensive intellectual property portfolio, which now includes U.S. Patent No. 9,442,346 and U.S. Patent Publication No. 2016/0360078 though an agreement with Windy Place, Inc., as well as International Design Patents, Patents pending, Copyrights, and Trademarks.
LuMee encourages customers and partners to report fakes or copycats to LuMee LLC via email to email@example.com.
