LuMee Bolsters Intellectual Property Position With Expansion Of Patent Portfolio
PARK CITY, Utah, Nov. 2, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- LuMee LLC, the maker of the original and patented illuminated LuMee® smart phone cases, announced today that it has expanded its patent portfolio through an agreement with Windy Place, Inc. The Windy Place patent portfolio, including U.S. Patent No. 9,442,346, issued on September 13, 2016 (provisional application filed Jan. 28, 2011), significantly strengthens LuMee's intellectual property position and will allow LuMee to expand its technology through product innovations.
In addition, LuMee will continue to engage international enforcement of the full breadth of its expanded intellectual property rights. Due to the ongoing success of the LuMee case and its partnerships, numerous low quality "knockoffs" have recently garnered attention in the market. These low quality "knockoffs" have made various claims, such as having innovations that precede LuMee technology, or allegedly rival the LuMee product. However, many of the "knockoffs" contain cheaply made, and potentially hazardous components. LuMee is currently placing companies and manufacturers on notice for their violation of LuMee's brand and intellectual property rights, and will continue to vigorously pursue these matters.
