Lung Cancer Research Foundation Hosts Sixteenth Strolling Supper

NEW YORK, Nov. 8, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Lung Cancer Research Foundation (LCRF) held its signature gala, the Sixteenth Strolling Supper, on Wednesday, November 7 at Gotham Hall in New York City. The event, which raised over $1.3 million, featured a special performance by Sutton Foster, Tony Award winner and star of Younger. In celebration of the Strolling Supper, several New York City skyline spires, One Bryant Park, One World Trade Center and One Five One West 42, were illuminated in signature LCRF blue.

WABC-TV's Bill Ritter hosted the event, which brings together members of New York City's professional, social and philanthropic communities. Proceeds support LCRF and its mission to improve lung cancer outcomes by funding research for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure of lung cancer. The event continues to be LCRF's largest annual fundraiser, raising over $17 million since inception.

"Fundraising events like the Strolling Supper play such a crucial role in our grant program," said Dennis P. Chillemi, Executive Director, LCRF. "The funds raised through this event are what allow us to fund so many innovative lung cancer research projects."

LCRF funds research across the spectrum of basic, translational, and clinical research. To date, LCRF has funded 362 research grants totaling nearly $33 million, the highest amount provided by a nonprofit organization dedicated to funding lung cancer research. In addition to research, LCRF focuses on lung cancer awareness and educational programs. The Foundation also hosts community events nationwide through the Free to Breathe Events Program.

The Sixteenth Strolling Supper was attended by more than 500 people. Guests enjoyed music by DJ Elle Dee and bid on a variety of silent auction items including dinner for two at Per Se, a getaway to Costa Rica, a PGA Championship final round experience and a Nashville weekend at the Hutton Hotel. In addition, guests had the opportunity to enter a raffle to win a VIP Seaport District package, which featured a summer concert experience at Pier 17, a hotel stay at Mr. C. Seaport and dinner at Corso Como.
