NEW YORK, April 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Macro Risk Advisors (MRA), a leader in global equity derivatives strategy and trade execution for institutional investors, today announced the expansion of its sales and trading team with the addition of David Kovtun as an Institutional Salestrader. The employment of Mr. Kovtun is part of a continuing effort to grow the MRA sales and trading team for an expanding client base that demands superior execution capability and strategic market insights.
"I am thrilled to be a part of MRA team. The firm marries strategy and execution in a way that is unique and lends itself well to MRA's diverse client base," said Mr. Kovtun. "Furthermore, MRA takes its role as an educator and thought leader in the marketplace seriously and seeks to engage its clients through a variety of content in an accessible and actionable way."
MRA's expansion comes at a time when using derivatives and volatility exchange traded products, such as the VIX and VXX, are becoming more important for investors to manage their portfolio risk. The firm's clients, including hedge funds, family offices, pension funds, and endowments, have increasingly sought independent advice on how to structure and execute hedging transactions in an efficient manner. "Our continued growth as a firm will be focused on expanding our core knowledge of volatility, but also will be an expansion into the fundamental space. Our goal is to bring people to the team that can contribute a different viewpoint to the market," said Dean Curnutt, the founder and CEO of MRA. "David has experience in both fundamentals and derivatives and we are excited to have him."
"David brings extensive experience in the equity derivatives industry and will expand our team's ability to cover clients in this space, and continue to offer them the best in both idea generation and execution," said Brian Bier, the Head of Equity Derivative Sales and Trading at MRA.
Before joining MRA, Mr. Kovtun was a Director of Equity Derivatives Sales at Citadel. He began his career as an equity options trader in Susquehanna's market-making program before joining their equity derivatives sales division in 2002. He holds a BA degree in Economics from Northwestern University in Chicago.
