NEW YORK, Nov. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Macro Risk Advisors (MRA), a leading provider of global equity derivatives strategy and trade execution for institutional investors, today announced the growth of its team with the promotions of George Lam to Head of Risk Strategy and John Luttenberger to Chief Operations and Compliance Officer. The senior appointments are part of an ongoing expansion effort at MRA, which will support its increasing client base and further establish new opportunities to hire and develop unique talent.

In his new role, Mr. Lam will oversee the team developing analytics that enable clients to better understand market and trading risk. He will also lead the effort to create cutting edge tools that manage portfolio risk for institutional clients.  In his role as Chief Compliance Officer, Mr. Luttenberger continues to be responsible for guiding the firm on all issues related to compliance and regulation.  In his expanded role as Chief Operations Officer, he will also oversee matters related to trade clearing, finance, technology and facilities.

Before joining MRA in 2010, Mr. Lam worked at Marathon Asset Management as a risk analyst and trader in convertibles, volatility arbitrage, risk arbitrage, long-short equity, and distressed securities.  Prior to Marathon, Mr. Lam worked at UBS as a market risk officer covering the equity derivatives and convertible desks.  Mr. Lam holds his Bachelors of Science degrees in Physics and Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Prior to joining MRA in 2008, Mr. Luttenberger was the director of compliance at Lehman Brothers MarketMakers. He has also served as the Chief Compliance Officer of Van Der Moolen Specialist USA, an NYSE market-making firm.  Mr. Luttenberger holds a bachelor's degree from Monmouth University.
